Event at Cantin

Cantin opens its doors with two vinyl sets that set the tone for the opening night. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Barbara Frey plays fusion, jazz-funk, and warm, atmospheric grooves. From 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, DJ Morticia takes over with carefully selected gems ranging from Neapolitan funk and French disco to Latin grooves.

Disco-Freaks takes over Thursday with six hours of vinyl grooves spanning disco, funk, boogie, and soul. Behind Disco-Freaks is Chris Davies, one half of the vinyl DJ duo that formed in London in 2013 and has since performed internationally at clubs and festivals. Expect warm, soulful, and danceable vinyl music with a distinct feel-good vibe.

Friday features two DJ sets, with DiBean playing from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Krister Bladh taking over from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Krister Bladh is a genre-bending DJ and the promoter behind the music magazine Record Turnover. His record collection ranges from 60s and 70s singles to Latin, soul, and other slightly weirder genres.

Richard Öhman and Ronny Sander, who run Doolittle Records, are curating Saturday’s music. During opening week, Cantin will be filled with food, drinks, music, secondhand goods, beach vibes, a sauna, art, and much more.

This summer, Halli’s Placebo, along with other DJs and selectors, will be playing various styles of funk—a genre so broad that it has managed to permeate every corner of the world and every musical style. Every other Sunday, Cantin’s speakers will be filled with everything from Arabic and Brazilian funk to country-funk and jazz fusion. Stop by and recharge with some good food in one of our lounge chairs, rested and ready to dance—or just come as you are. Everything is played on vinyl during family-friendly hours! For the premiere, Mr2Fresh will be joining us, and together they’ll play classic, pure funk from the late ’60s onward.

DJ aLerz is a Chilean DJ with roots in funk, hip-hop, and vinyl culture. After a hiatus, he returned to music in Copenhagen in 2023 and has since been performing and organizing events in both Malmö and Copenhagen. His sound is groove-based and blends funk, hip-hop, disco, house, and Latin vibes. Expect warm, danceable music with both atmosphere and energy.

The Johanna Jarl Trio is coming to Cantin with a live jazz performance. Johanna’s voice has been described as deep and distinctive, with a strong lyrical quality. She is joined by Ben Besiakov on piano and Johnny Åman on double bass, two highly accomplished musicians with extensive experience on the Nordic and international jazz scene.
